District 56 House race decided

Democratic incumbent Steve Magie looks like he will hold on to his House District 56 seat in Conway after absentee and provisional ballots were counted Monday by the Faulkner County Election Commission.

The current difference between Magie and Republican Trent Minner stands at 10 votes. There are still 2 overseas / military ballots outstanding that have until Friday to be returned. However, that’s clearly not enough to change the outcome.

Bill filing begins today for the next session

Yep. It’s that time. Today is the first day that legislators can file bills for the 94th General Assembly that begins on January 9.  You can see bills filed here.

Pre-session budget hearings continue today. On the hot seat are the Department of Human Services and the Secretary of State’s Office.
