To Act to authorize a member of a municipal fire department bomb squad to lawfully carry a weapon and make arrests in certain circumstances; To allow members of a municipal fire department bomb squad to carry a concealed handgun without a license to carry a concealed handgun in certain circumstances; And for other purposes

Summary

What it does

This bill adds members of city fire department bomb squads to a list of people allowed to carry concealed handguns in public areas like government buildings and school properties while acting within their official capacity. They would have to have completed training, carry an official ID, not be under the influence of alcohol, among other stipulations.

It also allows bomb squad members to make arrests for violations of the law related to explosives if they have completed a specified training.
