Original Title
To provide for reasonable child support for any surviving dependent child of a homicide victim when the defendant was driving or boating while intoxicated when the homicide occurred.
Summary
What it does
This bill would require someone convicted for homicide while driving or boating while intoxicated to pay child support to surviving children of the deceased (up to 20 years old) if ordered by a court. It stipulates that the child support will accrue if the person is jailed, and they will be responsible for the back payments after release. Civil judgments would offset the amount of child support owed.
