Creating a "prescription drug harm" felony
Summary
What it does
This bill would create a new felony for “prescription drug harm or homicide.” Officers of companies that bring prescription drugs onto the market could be guilty of this new felony if they knowingly withhold information of dangerous effects of the drug AND the drug causes physical injury or death to a user. Prescription drug harm or homicide will be a felony punishable by at least 1 year in jail and “not more than life,” according to the bill.
